L2TPv3 and Microsoft 2003 Cluster

So at work we have configured a L2TPv3 pseudowire to make a number of our vlans available at another site. We have been extremely happy with the results to date, but the other day we were trying to move a third node of one of our Clusters from our main site to the other side using a stretch VLAN for the heartbeat and the public network. We had problems with the cluster service starting when the 2 nodes were up in the production site, a quick call to PSS pointed us to change the MTU from the default to 1500 and the cluster service started right up.

I had also had a number of packets being discarded due to exceeded session mtu so I had to change the MTU for the pseudowire: PMTU max 1500.

All in all a great win as we can now have a geographically diverse cluster without all the headache of using the MNS etc...
